Embankments of the Vistula, between 1900-1904. Additional Info: It is how the Vistula River boulevards looked like at the beginning of the 20th century, it is the present-day Prince Józef Poniatowski Street, which ran through the then village of Zwierzyniec adjoining the city, now a district of Krakow. By the well with the pump, insulated with hay for the winter, a man rests in attire characteristic for inhabitants of the Krakow area at that time. It is early spring, and the willow trees visible behind the fence are not even green yet. The uniform colours of the painting, dominated with brown and blue, draw one's attention. The figure of the man with details of his attire stands out from the sketch-like background.
