Portrait of Prof. Adolf Beck, 1934. Professor of medicine, neurophysiologist, two-time rector of the Jan Kazimierz University in Lviv. His research on the use of electrophysiology to localize functions in the brain led to the discovery of the brain's electrical activity (spontaneous active current) and influenced the beginnings of electroencephalography.
