Portrait of Sigismund Augustus (1520-1572), King of Poland, 1550-1650. Additional Info: The portrait of Sigismund II on the sheet metal is painted with skill. The ruler's face is slim and long, the dark eyes are looking keenly at the viewer. The king is attired in a dark beret and Western European clothing he usually wore. The inscription on the right side of the head indicates the identity of the model and says that he was "the last of the Jagiellonians." The inscription was probably made after the ruler's death.
