The Demon, 1904. A man and a woman in the brightly lit interior of a café, which has already been left by all the guests due to the late hour. The woman, bent low over the table, is crying, hiding her face in her hands. Sitting over a glass of absinthe, the man looks at her cynically, playing with a chair and calmly smoking a cigarette. In his drunken, demonic face, one can recognize the features of Stanislaw Przybyszewski (1868-1927), a poet, essayist and playwright, symbolist and decadent.
