Portrait of Kazimierz Pociej (d. 1728), Voivode of Vitebsk, c1770. Additional Info: Kazimierz Aleksander Pociej, born in 1666, was the son of Aleksander Gabriel Pociej (1632-1695) and the younger brother of Ludwik Konstanty (1664-1730). He lived in the period following the death of Sobieski, difficult for the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the time of the Northern War, in his home Lithuania there was also the domestic unrest and struggles between supporters and opponents of the Sapieha family. Pociej took an active part in these events, with time gaining more and more significance and higher offices. Initially, he was an Ensign of Trakai, later Castellan of Vitebsk (1700), then Castellan of Trakai (1703), and finally, from 1705, Voivode of Vitebsk (just like his father). He was a member of the Sejm several times. He was also a generous benefactor of both the Uniate Greek Catholic Church and the Roman Catholic Church.
