Portrait of Stanislaw Ernest Denhoff (ca. 1673-1728), aristocrat, Grand Master of the Hunt of Lithuania (from 1697), Grand Chorazy of the Crown (1704-1721), voivode of Polock (1721-1728), politician and a military commander (Field Hetman of Lithuania, 1709-1728). Additional Info: He was born probably in 1673. At the age of 24, he took the office of the Lithuanian master of the hunt, and in 1704 he became the Grand Sword-bearer of the Crown. In the same year, he aided King Augustus II as the head of the Sandomierz Confederation, and although the king abdicated, Denhoff remained his faithful supporter. When the Wettin retook the throne, Denhoff received the office of the Field Hetman of Lithuania in 1709. In 1721 he was appointed the voivode of Polock. He died in 1728. In this painting, he is depicted in an unnaturally contorted pose, at a table decorated with a rococo ornament.
