Double-helix staircase, Castle of Chambord, Loire Valley, France, 16th century (2019). Attributed to Domenico da Cortona (ca 1465- ca 1549). Built by order of King Francis I between 1519-1539, along the river Closson. It consists of two separate intertwined staircases that go up three floors without meeting.
