A New Zealand war canoe with sail, 1768-1780. A Maori war canoe with its crew, one of whom holds a human skull; also aboard are women, children and a dog. A man in a cloak gives orders. From "A Collection of Drawings by A Buchan, S Parkinson, and JF Miller, made in the Countries visited by Capt Cook in his First Voyage, also of Prints published in Hawksworth's Voyages of Biron, Wallis, and Cook, as well as in Cook's second and third Voyages". Captain Cook's first voyage was 1768-1771, his second voyage 1772-1775, and the third voyage 1776-1780.
