The landing of Hernando Cortes in Mexico in 1519, 19th century. Cortes has just landed and stepped onto dry land. The natives are greeting him, with one of them kneeling before him. A miniature in colours with a foliated border on two sides, containing a second portrait of Cortes to the shoulders, within a medallion. From an account of the Spanish invasion of Mexico.
