Resolution of the commanders of the British fleet opposing the Armada, 1588. This is the resolution of a council of war of the commanders of the English fleet which opposed the Spanish Armada in 1588, made as the Armada tried to escape northwards after the Battle of Gravelines. The English commanders agree 'to folowe and pursue the Spanishe Fleete until we have cleared oure owne coaste and broughte the Frithe (the Firth of Forth) weste of us, and then to returne backe againe'.
