Frontispiece of Mortier's "Neptune François", 1693. Pieter Mortier was a Dutch publisher of French descent who produced atlases of marine charts in Amsterdam in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. From "Le Neptune françois ou Atlas Nouveau des Cartes Marinesà l'usage des armées du roy de la Grande Bretagne" (The French Neptune or New Atlas of Marine Charts for the use of the armies of the King of Great Britain).
