Pageant at the Châtelet, 1514. Spectacle staged for the royal entry of Mary Tudor into Paris. Justice and Truth descending from heaven, attended by classical and symbolic figures. On the left, the sun god Phoebus, representing the King, gives light to Diana the moon goddess, representing France. Other figures include 'Minerve' (the goddess Minerva), and 'Stella Maris' (Our Lady, Star of the Sea - ie the Virgin Mary). From Pageants for the marriage of Mary Tudor, sister of Henry VIII, to Louis XII of France.
