Gummer, Chief Engineer, detailing the history and war work of the No. 1 National Filling Factory in Leeds, which was built in 1915 during the First World War, and employed many women to fill shells with high explosives. An explosion in 1916 killed 35 women outright, maiming and injuring dozens more.
