Audience of Hussein II Bey, 1835. Engraving showing Hussein II Bey (Al-Husayn II ibn Mahmud?) sitting cross-legged, surrounded by his Mamluk dignitaries in European-style uniform. Prince Hermann Ludwig Heinrich von Pückler-Muskau (1785-1871) was a German nobleman, renowned as an accomplished artist in landscape gardening, as well as the author of a number of books mainly centering around his travels in Europe and Northern Africa, published under the pen name of Semilasso.
