Vincent de Beauvais writing in his study, late 15th century. Dominican priest Vincent de Beauvais is seated at his desk, with a large magnifying glass beside him. He attempted to record the thinking of his day on such subjects as theology, psychology, astronomy, medicine, agriculture and botany, to name but a few.
