The Grand Mosque at Seringapatam, India, after the Capture of the Place in May, 1799. The capital of Mysore, Seringapatam (Srirangapatana) fell to the British in May 1799. They had initiated a war on the pretext that Mysore's ruler, Tipu Sultan, was seeking foreign support.
