Bayazidi brought before Timur, 1600. Timur sits enthroned under a canopy with attendants by his side and receives Bayazidi. On the right are soldiers from Timur's victorious army. On the left Bayazidi's defeated men are brought in, roped together. Legend says the defeated ruler was carried everywhere in a cage at the order of Timur. Timur was a Mongol conqueror, who waged many wars against the Persians. From "Zafar Nameh" (Book of Victory).
