'A peep into the Cave of Jacobinism', 1798. 'Magna est Veritas et praevalebit' (truth is mighty and will prevail). Britannia, wearing the belt of 'Truth' fires flaming bolts at a monster representing the French Revolution. Above her hover cherubs holding a cross, a crown and the scales of justice. The monster recoils in fear, dropping the smiling mask. Flames engulf his reading matter, with titles such as 'Anarchy' and 'Atheism'. Frogs flee into the dark river. Frontispiece from "The Anti-Jacobin Review".
