Inferno, Canto I, 1442-1450. Dante asleep in front of the dark wood; Dante looks at the rays of the sun; Dante attacked by the leopard, the lion, and thrown down by the she-wolf; Dante meets Virgil, Beatrice descending from above. Dante was a great admirer of Virgil, and in his work The Divine Comedy, Virgil accompanies Dante through Purgatory and Inferno. From "Divina commedia" (The Divine Comedy).
