A suffragette being arrested, c1910s (1935). The campaign to secure the vote for women in Britain reached its peak in 1912, early in George V's reign, with women adopting a range of protests, direct action and civil disobedience. Partial suffrage was achieved in 1918, with all women finally gaining the right to vote ten years later, in 1928.
