Clayton Tunnel North Portal, Pyecombe, Mid Sussex, West Sussex, 1977. The north portal of Clayton Tunnel and Tunnel Cottage seen from the north-east, with a train passing by in the foreground. The attached single-storey cottage, perched directly over the line, has been described as one of the more unusual and photogenic railway locations in the UK. The cottage was added to the turreted and castellated tunnel entrance in 1849.
