Was born 1828, educated Eton and Balliol College, Oxford: represented University in cricket-field and on river; obtained first class Literis Humanioribus 1851; Vinerian Scholar 1852; Fellow of Exeter College. Was called to Bar 1858; became Q.C. 1874; is Bencher of Lincoln's Inn. Has been many years umpire Universities' boat-race. Married daughter of late Sir F. Pollock, Bart., Lord Chief Baron'.
