A view of the construction of the Birmingham to Preston Motorway (M6), looking north along a slip road on the east side of Section D of the motorway and showing a group of men in the foreground, standing beside a concrete mixer lorry. The work on the Birmingham to Preston Motorway (M6), between junctions J13 to J16 started in June 1960 and was carried out by John Laing Construction Ltd. Section D was 7 1/2 miles in length between Keele and Barthomley.
