Fashions for August, 1845. 'Mantelets écharpes are often preferred to the real mantelet, being smaller both in the pelerine and ends. Mantelets écharpes are pretty of white poult de soie, trimmed round with a new kind of lace fringe, the long ends forming three folds, which are fixed, and straight down from the waist'.
