The Pearl Sword, 1844. Ceremonial sword of the Lord Mayor of the City of London. 'The sword measures four feet. The sheath is of gold, set with pearls, and the handle of richly chased gold, bearing devices significant of Justice and Mercy...the sword - the gift of the Sovereign - symbolizes the exclusive jurisdiction which, as chief officer of the Corporation, he exercises within the city walls'.
