The Temptation of Eve, c. 1545/1547. Although not related to any specific projects created at Fontainebleau, this print is a beautifully example of the influence of the style of wall decoration established there. The richly ornamented frame competes with the central image for the viewer's attention. In fact, this decorative style was one of the main innovations of the Fontainebleau school. It is characterized by curling bands (known as strapwork) skillfully intertwined with bulging garlands of fruit and other motifs.
