The Inthronization of His Majesty, who is seen crowned and sceptred', 1937. With the Bearers of the Swords at his right hand, and the Bishops of Durham and Bath and Wells on either side of him, King George ascended the throne upon the abdication of his brother, King Edward VIII, on 11th December 1936. Edward's coronation had been planned for 12th May 1937 his brother and sister-in-law's coronation kept to this date. From The Illustrated London News, Volume 190.
