Grasshopper and small bug in grass, Puszta, Hungary, 20th century. The Puszta is a grassland biome on the Great Hungarian Plain. Grasshoppers have powerful hind legs which enable them to escape from threats by leaping vigorously. Under certain environmental conditions, grasshopper can change colour and form swarms. Under these circumstances they are known as locusts.
