'Battle of Quiberon Bay', c1765. Fought between the fleets of Britain and France, the naval Battle of Quiberon Bay took place off the French coast on 20 November 1759 during the Seven Years' War. The British victory scuppered French plans for an invasion of Britain and signalled the rise of the Royal Navy as the world's dominant sea power. From Old Naval Prints, by Charles N. Robinson & Geoffrey Holme. [The Studio Limited, London, 1924]
