'Main Entrance, Victoria and Albert Museum, with sculpture by Alfred Drury', c1909. The main entrance to the Victoria and Albert Museum is regarded as one of (Edward) Alfred Briscoe Drury's (1856?1944) best works. The entrance includes Prince Albert immediately above the main entrance (plinth empty in this picture), nine lunettes with Drury's characteristic allegorical figures each bearing a portion of the museum's motto, allegorical figures of Inspiration and Knowledge, and Queen Victoria above it all.
