An Interior Scene: a bedroom designed by Mme. Gloria Silva at the Hotel Metropole, London. The Hotel Metropole was commissioned by the Gordon Hotels company. Its construction started in 1883 and it opened in 1885. It occupied the corner of Northumberland Avenue and Whitehall Place and was the base for the Aero Club and the Alpine Club. It was also popular with the Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII, who entertained guests at the hotel on various occasions. From The Connoisseur Volume LXIII [Otto Limited, London, 1922.]
