'Selene and Endymion', 1760s. According to Greek mythology, the Goddess Selene was in love with Endymion, a shepherd. She asked Zeus to grant him eternal sleep so that he would stay young and never leave her. Found in the collection of the State Open-air Museum Oranienbaum, Russia.
