Vladimir Korolenko, Russian author, 1910s. Korolenko (1853-1921) was a writer of short stories as well as a journalist, human rights activist and humanitarian. His short stories were notable for their harsh description of nature, influenced by his experiences while in exile in Siberia. Korolenko was a strong critic of the Tsarist regime and, in his final years, of the Bolsheviks. Found in the collection of the Russian State Film and Photo Archive, Krasnogorsk.
