LZ 6 entering a floating hanger, Halle, Germany, c1909-1910 (1933). Floating hangars were used to house the early Zeppelins as they could be aligned to the wind, making launching the airships easier. LZ6 was the first of the Zeppelins to be used for commercial passenger transport. A photograph from Zeppelin-Weltfahrten, Vom ersten Luftschiff 1899 bis zu den Fahrten des LZ127 Graf Zepplin 1932, Dresden, 1933.
