Typical pit housing in Furlong Road, Bolton upon Dearne, South Yorkshire, 1963. The rear of a property in Furlong Road in Bolton upon Dearne, close to Barnsley. This is typical of the type of housing built for miners that existed in the area with a simple back yard with an outside toilet. Although a few streets remain, a lot of the terraces were demolished during the re-generation of the area in the latter part of the 20th century.
