Otto Lilienthal makes one of his last flights, 1896 (1956). Otto Lilienthal (1848-1896) German gliding pioneer and aeronautical inventor, flying one of his gliders. He made about 2000 flights before being killed. His designs influenced the Wright Brothers. A print from Things, a volume about the origin and early history of many things, common and less common, essential and inessential, by Readers Union, the Grosvenor Press, London, 1956.
