Interior view of the prison in the Bowyer Tower, Tower of London, Stepney, London, 1883. The Bowyer Tower is one of the thirteen towers of the Inner Ward, built in the mid 13th century during the reign of Henry III. According to legend, George, Duke of Clarence, the brother of Edward IV and Richard III, was imprisoned here in 1477 prior to his execution.
