Edwin Hughes passing the Royal Exchange, City of London, 1847. Hughes was the manager of a circus called 'Hughes' Mammoth Equestrian Establishment'. He rode in 'The Burmese State Carriage Drawn by Elephants' at the head of the procession that promoted the arrival of the circus in town.
