Surrey Zoological Gardens, Southwark, London, 1836. View showing figures walking and a hot air balloon ascending in the background. The gardens were opened in 1832 and comprised 15 acres, with a lake of 3 acres. There was a good collection of animals and birds, with scenic attractions. The gardens extended as far as Manor Place.
