'The Evening Before the Battle of Copenhagen', 1801. Admiral Lord Nelson won a victory over the Danish-Norrwegian fleet at the Battle of Copenhagen in 1801 after disregarding the order of his superior, Admiral Sir Hyde Parker, to withdraw. According to legend, Nelson put his telescope to his blind eye and claimed that he could not see Parker's signal. After a painting by Thomas Davidson.
