'The Battle of the Pictures', 1745. ' The bearer hereof is entitled (if he thinks proper) to be a bidder for Mr Hogarth's pictures, which are to be sold on the last day of this month'. 'The Battle of the Pictures' was engraved as a bidder's ticket for an auction of Hogarth's paintings. The auction house is on the left and Hogarth's studio appears to the right.
