Thomas Cochrane (1775-1860), 10th Earl of Dundonald, 1837. Cochrane was a Scottish politician and naval adventurer. He was one of the most daring and successful captains of the Napoleonic Wars and his life and exploits served as inspiration for the character Horatio Hornblower, created by CS Forester.
