Gilt bronze figure of a praying Buddhist monk, Late Six Dynasties period or Tang dynasty, China, 6th-10th century. A gilt bronze figure of a praying Buddhist monk seated on a low plain square plinth. The figure's robe has long pendulant sleeves, his head is shaved and his hands are held before him, palms together. The left elbow rests on his robe-covered left knee. The plinth is hollow with circular spike protrusion.
