Revolt on the North-West Frontier, the British besieged at Malakand, India, 1897. The British had to fight a fierce battle against besieging Pathans until the arrival of a relief force. The events were chronicled by Winston Churchill, then a young Second Lieutenant with the relief column, in "The Story of the Malakand Field Force: An Episode of Frontier War".
