Model of the Globe Theatre, c1950. Model of Shakespeare's Globe Theatre as it was thought to have looked in the sixteenth or seventeenth century. Part of the wall is cut away to show the inside with tiered seating and the stage. The roof is thatched. The new Globe Theatre held its first performance in 1997, and is sited near the remains of the original Globe on Bankside, on the south bank of the River Thames, London.
