Five-segmented lacquer inro with basket by Jokosai with silver inlaid iron manju netsuke, Edo period, Japan, 1650-1700. A five-segmented inro of brown lacquer. One side is decorated with a wicker basket in which charcoal, chopsticks, feather and a red lacquer box are depicted. The other side has a cash coin, a six-pointed star mon and two bracelets. The inro is signed by Jokosai who was the inro-maker to the shogun in 1679 or his son or grandson. The iron manju netsuke has silver inlays of wisteria.
