Qingbai twin drummer figures, Yuan dynasty, China, 1279-1368. Small qingbai figure group of a male and female drummer standing on a plinth. The female has a high headdress and one foot forward with drum on shoulder strap slung under her elbow. The man has a conical cap and drum held at shoulder. Operas and dramas of all sorts became popular in the Yuan dynasty and designs taken from them served as models for decoration of ceramics at this time.
