Black jade winged sword guard, late Warring States period, China, 4th-3rd century BC. A jade sword guard of diamond lozenge shaped cross section and winged (rounded ear) front section. The jade is of natural black colour petering off on one side to brown flecked grey. The carved decoration has been finely done with angular scrolls and dissolved kui dragons.
