Tintagel Castle, Cornwall, 1998. Tintagel Castle is dramatically sited on a rocky coastal promontory, and its history is equally romantic. Popular legend links it with King Arthur and it is thought to have been a stronghold of a 5th-6th century Celtic kingdom. This view of the inner ward shows the north gate and part of the great hall of the 13th century castle.
