George Jamesone, Scottish portrait-painter, (1870). Jamesone (1587-1644) studied painting under Rubens at Antwerp. He painted a series of portraits of Scottish kings that were presented to Charles I on his first visit to Scotland in 1633. An engraving from Robert Chambers' A Biographical Dictionary of Eminent Scotsmen, Blackie and Son, (Glasgow, Edinburgh, and London, 1870).
